Guatemala

While traveling in Guatemala, I was able to explore and connect with people on and off the beaten path. I accompanied cultural anthropologist Tristan Call and writer/farmer Kate Savage to visit and learn about rural communities that are currently being threatened by the environmental and economic impact of large industrial agribusinesses. We also visited San Basilio, a thriving agricultural community, where we observed traditional sustainable farming practices and learned about the farmer’s experiences during the Guatemalan civil war. We were generously hosted by families in all of the communities we visited.
